The Petitioner´s Rain Dance
written by Halfblind Henry
We see the plumfaced midgets
planting hyacinths in the dust
drawing maps of imaginary gardens
to overcome their wanderlust
The mirror is an image
we all love to believe in
except when we´re alone
and a seductive voice is whispering
Hang your suit, drop your case
This is home
Let me tell you in dreamland they´ve got nightmares, too
The queen and her faithful rooks
play the game of counting noughts
while the bishop envies knight moves
it´s all too easy to read their thoughts
Second hand customers
curiously waiting for someone
to tell them what they´re waiting for
While they´re filing through their options
nothing can scare them but the closing
of an automatic door
We see them floating into the pavilion of randomness
I really dig your hairdo
it´s not the case that I don´t care
I just feel a little dizzy
after drinking from the angels´share
If you´ve got nothing to say
if you´ve got nothing to do
it´s pointless to be around
so I´ll best be on my way
choices are getting few
when the drums begin to pound
