On a Soft September Morning
written by Halfblind Henry

You smiled at your cute little daughter
wrapped up in your arms so tight
The favourite toy always within reach

She could repeat all you had taught her
some dance steps, a poem to recite
with all her clumsiness and limited speach

You introduced her as the odd attraction
to neighbours and friends
who cheered at the distraction

You showed her the game
such fun to play
yes, and who is to blame
just for acting it out their way

And the goodies were plenty
on birthdays and such
it was hard to tell the differrence
between everything and too much

All creatures got a mind of their own
Everybody likes a story to be true
No-one likes to be left alone
But, then again, maybe they do

On a soft September morning
standing on your front lawn
watching the twinkling dew drops
A songbird is singing
just a little too loud
